February 7th 2009, Jim took his mini to the EFI mini's dyno shoot out. He walked away with the top spot, with his car making 255bhp and 237 lbft of torque. Could this make Jims mini the most powerful A series in the world without n2o?

Body - 1980 mini, re-shelled,  bulk head mod's for turbo, Miglia arches, painted Ferrari Fly yellow with back roof, laminated front screen, polycarbonate windows and front and rear screens. Curley Carbon Fibre Boot, doors, and boot floor, front end, cut and tub rear arches

Suspension - Hilo's & Avo socks all round (Ally Bodied & Rose Jointed Avo's), Competition Cones Fully Rose Jointed (adjustable on car) bottom arms at front, Force Racing Titanium Rose Jointed adjustable tie rods, adjustable rear camber / caster brackets, lowered shock mounts, Solid Mounted front and rear subframes. Lightened and strengthened front and rear subframes. KAD alloy rear radius arms. 10 X 7 Force Racing Split Rim alloy wheels, with 165X60 10"035r's yoko's. All suspension has been setup by Endaf of Owens Motorsport Fabrication, all corner weights etc set.

Brakes - 7.9" vented, grooved and cross drilled front disk brakes with Minispares Alloy four pot callipers, KAD rear disk brakes. Braided brake hoses all round. Carbon metallic pads all round. In car adjustable bias valve

Engine - Home Built (By Myself and Huw Beynon Race Engines) Mini SPI A+ 1275 Block +040  making 1310
Modified Accralite 18cc Pistons, Balanced on Longman Miglia A+ rods, Genuine Turbo EN40B Crank, fitted with steel centre main strap  ARP Rod Bolts, New lead copper Turbo VP2 Bearings. Sheepspeed Racing Jackshaft cam, Sheepspeed Belt Drive Conversion, High capacity oil pump, ultra light steel pre verto flywheel, Special Sheepspeed clutch diaphragm, Minispares Sintered clutch, Modified Backplate (all fully balanced by racespec) BWM K1100 16 valve head (End plates, seals and cam adapters designed by Dave Coxon, mad mini designs), (modified by Sheepspeed racing). Ford Zetec Under crown cooling jets.  Emerald K3 Distributerless fully mapable Fuel and Ignition, Garrett  Special Ball Bearing Turbo, Tial External waste gate, Owens Fabrication intercooler, running at approx 25 psi.  Single throttle body mounted to Custom plenum chamber, and intercooler pipes. Bailey Piston dump valve. Custom alloy front mounted radiator, Electric water pump . 10 row oil cooler, Owens fabrication 321 Stainless steel exhaust manifold. Custom made Stainless exhaust system. Braided fuel and oil hoses, silicon water & oil breather hoses. K&N air filter. Over 255bhp at the flywheel on WGT Chassis Dyno 7/2/09.
 

Gearbox – Quaife / Swiftune Swift-Shift Dog Box, S/C 0.98:1 drop gears, TRAN X LSD, Force Racing 3.44 diff & Central oil pickup pipe.

Interior - Fabricage Miglia Multi point roll cage, fitted by Owens Fabrication, 5 point race harness, Corbeau Sprint FIA seats, Curley carbon fibre dash, and parcel shelf. Internal Gear change, Race Technology Dash 2 Display with DL1 data logger / predictive lap timer, 19 Sensors include, Wide band Lambda, Turbo boost, Brake pressure, air temp (before and after the IC), Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Wheel speed, Engine RPM, Exhaust Gas Temp,  GPS and G Forces

Custom loom created by Jimnet using thin wall high performance cable, with 64 unique colours used to identify each cables role. All Joints individually soldered and heat shrunk. All Exposed areas of the loom covered in heat shrink for extra protection.

Jimbo at last has managed to get his mini on the track, But still needs plenty of practice. Here is the preview of the DVD featuring Jim's Mini (yes Jim has a mini too)

 

Here his car is driven while being filmed for the latest DVD from minifilms. The DVD is due to be on 14th November 2008
