Just thought I'd pop in to sheepspeed again. Not been around in ages.. still not finished that Skyline hahaha.. Too many other things on the go in 2008!

Built an E30 BMW with an engine from a 535i running Megasquirt engine management. Its almost done now, just some niggles with the valve timing and a couple of ecu issues. Its gone through a fair transformation.

Then I bought another Skyline.. which is awesome fun. 357bhp at the wheels at just 0.9bar boost. Its capable of taking 1.6bar of boost with a new head gasket, new injectors, new fuel pump and a mappable ECU.. roll on 500bhp!

Changed the wheels a few days after buying it

Then smashed it.

Then fixed it

Then took the wing off

And now it has new unbroken headlights

If anyone fancies having a laugh at my lack of driving talent you're more than welcome to pop over to Llandow on the 21st February to watch me demolish the control tower at the British Drift Championship practice/licensing day.

I'm not too sure what to do about mapping the BMW.. Gunnar at GSTuning up in Derby has offered to help out.. but thats a trek and a half to just map it. We'll see.

I'm taking the yellow Skyline to Llandow.

Well it went alright for a first track day at Llandow and first drift day on a track rather than a wide open airfield like Brawdy. I was rubbish in practice as I was just pushing the car to see where its and my limit was.. When it came to the 90mins of licensing I nailed 5 decent runs. Not enough for a license though aparently.. no idea why and didnt get a real explanation either so I'm a bit miffed.

Anyway some pictures

I blew the gearbox at the end of the day too, tried hooking 3rd gear on the way round devils elbow but I think the selector exploded as I lost 3rd and 4th in one hit lol.

Well its transformed again. I did another day at Llandow around 8 weeks ago and managed to blow a few gaskets. So I started pulling things apart only to find some proper cowboy engineering going on.

Welded up internal wastegate:

The turbo had 2mm of play in it and the manifold was blowing everywhere

So time for a rethink and rebuild.

Out came the aircon

Tidied some wiring

New top mount manifold

Big replacement turbo

Tight fit

Endaf's modified plenum and my modified pipework

Wheel spacers fitted

Almost done

All set for Brawdy

The car is now running 0.8bar and only running a basemap on the ECU but I'd conservatively estimate it to be around 420bhp! :D Only trouble is after 4 laps on Saturday it killed the clutch
This was Sunday morning in the pissing rain just after I'd pulled the clutch out ready for a replacement:

5 laps after getting the replacement clutch in.. that went pop too.

I've got a HKS Twin plate carbon clutch coming now that'll take 700bhp so it should be fine for the 500bhp I'm aiming for :)

Sounds like your having fun buddy, but whay .8 bar you girl. If my 3 bearing crank A series engine can run 2 bar of boost I'm sure you can!
